The first and most important bit of advice that I can give is choose the right venue. When booking bear in mind the interior just as much as the exterior. In these days it's not just the rain that makes people go in side, but the sun, and wind. A venue needs to have felexibility to cope with whatever the weather brings.

Choose an experienced photographer. This will help the photography run smoothly, and to make best use out of the locations. Some photographers can say they have more experience than they have if in doubt ask to see some old wedding pictures, (The fashions are always a giverway).

When a potential wedding photographer shows you his work make sure he shows you more than one complete wedding. One thing you need to be careful of is, is it his own work, and can he prove it. With weddings many people shoot close to the main photographer, and they could get access to the original images. Also on the flip side make sure although he may be showing you his work, is he going to be the one turning up.

Although the cameras are more user friendly nowadays, you still need the right person to create, and organize your wedding photography. Someone may be good at doing a portrait, but it all boils down to wedding experience again.

Make sure you get on with your photographer, and let him do his job unfindered. I know the temptation to stick someone to their shoulder during the wedding, but on my side it spoils my consontration. This could lead to rushed pictures, and loss of opportunity. You pay them to take pictures, you might as well let them get on with it.

Expensive wedding photography is a guide to the quality of your wedding photographer, but what counts is how good you think they are. Wedding photography only seems over priced when it is done wrong.
